Former Premier League forward Dean Windass is not surprised to hear that Liverpool are interested in West Ham attacker Jarrod Bowen.
The Athletic reported last month that Bowen is on Liverpool’s radar, with Jurgen Klopp looking to bolster his attacking options.
The 24-year-old impressed for the Hammers last season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists after featuring in all 38 of his side’s Premier League fixtures.
David Moyes has made it clear that West Ham are looking to add to their squad this summer rather than sell off their star assets, but nevertheless, Windass can understand why Liverpool are targeting Bowen.
“I’m not surprised. I’ve spoken about Jarrod, how well he’s done,” the ex-Hull City striker told FFC in an exclusive interview. “When I heard that rumour, it didn’t surprise me because I know how good he’s been for West Ham.
“He’ll be better if he plays for Liverpool, but Moyes will desperately want to keep him.”
Bowen could certainly be a good addition to Liverpool’s squad, someone who could provide cover for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Whether the Englishman would be interested in that, though, remains to be seen, while Moyes looks reluctant to sell any of his key players in this transfer window.
