Borussia Dortmund’s chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke says that Jadon Sancho wants to stay at the club this summer, per BBC Sport.
What’s he said?
Sancho has become something of a star during his time at the Bundesliga club.
Signed in 2017 at the age of 17 from Manchester City, he has made 88 appearances for the club, scoring 31 goals and assisting a further 41. That is 72 goal involvements at a rate of 0.8 per game.
Indeed, he has scored 17 goals and registered 18 assists across 33 games this season, leading to reports of interest from across Europe.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Manchester United are leading the race to sign Sancho this summer in a deal that will cost in excess of the £89.3m they spent on midfielder Paul Pogba, though Liverpool and Chelsea are also said to be interested. City, too, have the option to match any bid that is tabled.
Watzke, though, does not think he wants to head to the Premier League this summer.
He said: “I think he has the feeling that the club does have a good future.
“In my opinion, I don’t think he wants to leave.”
However, he has admitted that the club needs to discuss his future with him and his agents.
He added: “We have a very confidential relationship between us and him and his agents. We will discuss it.”
Watzke, though, says Dortmund will not be forced into doing business just because a big offer is made.
He said: “It’s not a question of money. For us, it would be the best position if he stays at Borussia Dortmund.
“We have enough money. We want to have titles. I think this team has a lot more potential with Jadon than without Jadon.”

Break the bank
United need to really push the boat out and try to convince Sancho to return to Manchester.
This is a genuinely elite talent who is only likely to get better.
At the age of 19, he has had 35 goal involvements in 33 games this season and has become a key figure for both club and country, winning 11 caps for England.
The Telegraph reports that United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to bring in a right winger this summer and there cannot be a better option than Sancho, short of convincing Lionel Messi to somehow part ways with Barcelona.
He appears to be a generational talent – Sancho averages 2.3 key passes per game in the Bundesliga, 2.7 dribbles, and two shots, per WhoScored.
If United allow him to slip through their fingers, they will be left regretting it for years to come.
