is interested in a move to Arsenal according to the Telegraph after being told he can leave Newcastle United.
The midfielder has his eyes set on a move to the Emirates stadium after being put on the transfer list and told he can leave for free by the Magpies.
A series of rants against the club owner Mike Ashley on Twitter sealed Barton’s fate on Monday. He has been made to train alone and was also fined two week’s wages.
Despite this his agent Willie McKay says he has been ‘inundated with interest’ from six Premier League clubs and four from overseas.
However 28-year-old Barton has indicated to close friends that he is keen to play in the Champions League and will push for a £70,000-a-week deal at Arsenal should they make a move.
Whether boss Arsene Wenger is prepared to sign Barton remains to be seen although his chequered past and volatile demeanour doesn’t seem to be disturbing any potential suitors.
The move would certainly resurrect a turbulent career that has seen Barton serve a jail sentence and incur numerous fines throughout his career.
He did seem to turn over a new leaf last season letting his football do the talkined with his performances at St James’ Park winning him many new admirers.
